Russian gambling zones are ready to hire more than 1,500 people

HR services of the Krasnaya Polyana gambling zone (Sochi), the Siberian Coin gambling zone (Altai) and the Tigre de Cristal casino (Vladivostok) shared data on the number of working employees, average salaries and personnel shortages.

4,211 people currently work in the three above-mentioned gambling zones. In order to fully staff the staff, entertainment clusters need to hire another 1,511 people.

It should be noted that the most in-demand specialties are professionals from the field of hospitality and catering: waiters, bartenders, administrators, cooks and other specialists. The second most popular and necessary were the unique professions related exclusively to the gambling component of the business: dealers, inspectors, attendants of slot halls and cashiers.

At the same time, it should be mentioned that the average salary in the gambling business is often significantly higher than the same figure in companies in the region where gambling zones are located. Thus, the Krasnaya Polyana gambling zone keeps the average monthly income of its employees at 78,000 rubles, while the average salary in the Krasnodar Territory was 56,000 rubles in 2023.

According to the HH rating. In 2023, the Krasnaya Polyana gambling zone is the best employer in the Krasnodar Territory, taking 1st place in the region, as well as 23rd place in the Russian Federation in the category of "large employers". In the field of "Services for the population" in Russia, the company "Domain" takes the 2nd place.

The Siberian Coin in Altai and Tigre de Cristal in Vladivostok also stand out in their regions in terms of wages. The average salary in the Altai Republic is 46,000 rubles, in the Siberian Coin gambling zone - 60,000 rubles, in the Primorsky Territory - 67,000 rubles, in the Tigre de Cristal casino – 70,000 rubles.

Dmitry Anfinogenov, Executive Director of AIRIS, commented on the personnel shortage in the Russian gambling business: "First of all, gambling zones are expanding infrastructurally, as they are heading for the development of tourist services: new restaurants, wellness complexes, entertainment venues, etc. are opening. As a result, this entails the need for new staff.

Secondly, the trend of the last four years shows that the number of guests in gambling zones is growing significantly from year to year. This creates the need to expand the staffing table in almost all areas and specialties.

An equally important factor for all gambling zones is the distance from major cities. Gambling clusters are located in sparsely populated locations away from regional centers (40-60 minutes by car). This entails difficulties with the selection and organization of working conditions (accommodation, transfer, etc.).

Using the example of the Krasnaya Polyana gambling zone, one can highlight the rather difficult issue of pricing for accommodation in Sochi. Many potential applicants are deterred by the prospect of living in a resort where prices for basic goods and services are higher than in other regions of Russia.

I would like to note separately that the shortage of specialists related to gambling is also due to the lack of a large market of applicants with relevant work experience. At the same time, gambling zones are actively working to overcome these barriers, providing their employees with free training, preferential housing, corporate transfers, meals and other bonuses."

It is important that applicants do not need to have a special education or extensive work experience to work in a position related to gaming processes. Future employees can get all the skills they need for work at free training courses. Such programs last for 3 months and include the necessary amount of training and exams, upon successful completion of which you can start working in the game room with real guests.

Recall that at the gambling summit of the Association of Entertainment and Event Tourism Industry Operators (AIRIS) held in December 2023, top managers of Russian gambling zones spoke about future large-scale projects. In particular, the Krasnaya Polyana gambling zone announced the construction of a unique "Epicenter of Entertainment". The facility includes a concert and event space, an interactive sports park, a children's center, a multimedia park and museum, a food hall and restaurants. It is planned to hire at least 750 employees to maintain such a facility, among them: a management team, managers, security services, personnel, marketing and PR, cooks, waiters. Due to the technical complexity of the project, high-level specialists in multimedia, IT, sound and light will be required.

Dmitry Anfinogenov adds: "Gambling is a very young, but at the same time a fast–growing part of the Russian tourism industry. The flow of guests shows stable growth dynamics from year to year. Gambling zones respond to the growing demand and strive to become entertainment clusters with a wide entertainment menu for their visitors. At the same time, professional opportunities for employees are significantly increased. New projects need both new specialties and employees who understand the specifics of the gambling business. And the constant expansion of the staff contributes to the manifestation of leadership qualities among the staff and creates a favorable environment for moving along the career path."
