Dmitry Anfinogenov, Executive Director of the Association of Operators of the Entertainment Industry and Sports and Spectacular Events (AIRIS), pointed out the reasons for the growth in tax deductions from the gambling business: “Annual growth in tax transfers is a completely natural process for the gambling industry. Today, Russian casinos are doing a lot of work to form their new image. And the result of such efforts is already noticeable.
I note that the new strategy for the development of gambling zones has shown itself to be excellent. Part of this plan was the effective integration into the tourism market, with the aim of developing its event component. This was the right step for Russian casinos. As a result, gambling zones attract guests with their variety of entertainment. And the game itself has become just one of the options. Star concerts, sports events, gastronomy, MICE events and much more have become new drivers for visiting.
The growth trend in the attendance of gambling zones is perfectly noticeable if we analyze all the key segments and quarterly data. I'm talking about the New Year holidays, the May holidays and the first quarter of 2023. In all these segments, we are seeing steady growth compared to previous years. Such statistics revealingly resonates with the growing role of non-gaming incomes of gambling clusters. Which ultimately increases tax payments.”
