The Soviet Union in the late 1960s, Faina Ranevskaya’s apartment, a small space where this famous actress spent the final, rather reclusive years of her life. Sometimes, she welcomes rare guests but she mostly spends her days communing with her past and people from her past. There is nothing that would bode ill; it is a quiet and calm twilight of her life.

But she has something coming! Destiny has other plans for Ms. Ranevskaya. A stranger named Annushka pays her an unexpected visit and the actress’s entire world is turned upside down. The plot takes a sharp turn with no chance of anything getting boring.
